The short answer
The best smart lock for aluminium doors in Kuwait is the one that suits the narrow backset of the profile, not the one with the most features. Model S35 (125 KWD) is the standard choice for most Kuwaiti aluminium doors, and model S2D (130 KWD) is the same lock with an internal safety lock that stops children opening the door from inside. Both include installation.
Why aluminium doors are a special case
An aluminium door is not a solid slab but a hollow profile, usually only 45 to 70 mm wide, and there is often glass or an infill panel a few centimetres from where the lock goes. That imposes three constraints you do not get with wooden doors:
Backset size
The backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the handle. On wooden doors it is 60 or 70 mm, while on aluminium profiles it is usually 25, 30 or 35 mm. A lock designed for a 60 mm backset will never fit an aluminium profile, and this is the single most common reason locks bought abroad get returned.
Mortise body length
Aluminium locks use a long, slim body running along the edge of the door rather than a square one. It normally comes in 85 or 92 mm between the centre of the cylinder and the centre of the handle, and that figure must match what is already machined into your door.
Fixing screws into hollow metal
Profile walls are usually no more than 1.4 mm thick. An experienced technician uses metal fixing nuts that pass right through from face to face, rather than relying on screws biting into thin metal, because those work loose with use and the lock starts to rattle within months.
The three measurements that decide the lock
Take these with a tape measure before you order. Almost every lock that comes back was wrong on one of these, not faulty.

Technical note: summer heat and the external door
An aluminium door in direct sun expands measurably between morning and midday in a Kuwaiti summer. If the lock is fitted with very tight clearance on the latch, the door will close stiffly at noon and return to normal after sunset, and the customer assumes the lock is faulty. The fix is to leave slightly wider clearance in the latch opening during installation, which is what our technicians do by default on sun-exposed doors.
Technical note: signal range
Aluminium blocks Bluetooth and WiFi signal more than wood does. If you intend to control the lock remotely, make sure the router or gateway is not behind an additional concrete wall from the door. Putting the gateway in the entrance hallway rather than the living room solves most complaints about the lock disconnecting from the app.
What about doors with a glass front?
If the aluminium door is internal and mostly glass, the metal profile may not be wide enough for a mortise lock. In that case the solution is The clamp-on glass lock (115 KWD), which grips the edge of the door without drilling, not the aluminium lock.
