Security Cameras in Kuwait: How to Choose and What Separates the Types
What confuses buyers most is not camera resolution but how the camera is powered and where it stores footage. High resolution is worthless if the camera sits where there is no power socket, or if its memory fills up after three days.
Solar power versus mains electricity
Solar cameras such as the Tapo C660 and C465 are the answer for boundary walls, gates and rooftops where there is no cabling. Kuwait sun is more than enough to charge them, and two hours of direct sun a day is enough for continuous operation. But avoid mounting them behind glass or under a canopy, and face the panel south as much as possible.
Wired cameras such as Hikvision and VIGI suit indoor use and locations where there is a power source or a PoE network. Their advantage is that they record continuously for 24 hours without relying on motion detection.
Resolution: when do you actually need 4K?
2K is enough for an apartment entrance or a single room. You need 4K when you want to read a car number plate or identify a face beyond ten metres, or when one camera covers a wide area and you want to zoom into part of the image afterwards. Higher resolution means bigger files, so size your memory card accordingly.

A 128 GB card usually holds about a week of motion-triggered recording at 2K, but only two to three days of continuous 4K. Always use a High Endurance card designed for continuous writing; ordinary phone cards fail within months inside a camera.
Summer heat in Kuwait
Most outdoor cameras are rated to 60 degrees Celsius, but mounting one in direct sun all day pushes the body above that and shortens battery life. Mount the camera under an overhang or eave wherever possible, while keeping the solar panel exposed.
