OWON specialises in air conditioning control, and that is the biggest line on a Kuwaiti electricity bill. The saving from a smart thermostat does not come from cooling better, but from stopping the AC running on empty rooms all day. The OWON thermostat is made for central units with fan coils, the most common type in Kuwaiti flats and villas, where it controls the water valve and the fan speed.

Important before buying: It does not suit wall-mounted split units run by remote — those need a smart infrared unit, not a thermostat. Nor does it suit VRF systems, which need a dedicated gateway from the manufacturer.
