How to Choose the Right Smart Lock for Your Door in Kuwait
A smart lock replaces the traditional key with a fingerprint, a PIN or a phone app, but choosing the wrong lock is the most common reason for a return. The choice starts with the door type and thickness, not with the specifications of the lock.
Choose by door type
aluminium doors the most common door type in Kuwaiti apartments. It needs a lock with a slim body to suit the door profile. The S35 and S2D in the store are designed for exactly this, priced between 125 and 130 KWD including installation.
Wooden doors takes a wider lock body and gives you more options. The T2 lock for wooden doors is 110 KWD including installation, and suits both internal and external doors.
Glass doors the hardest case, because toughened glass cannot be drilled after manufacture. Our glass lock is fitted with a clamp and no drilling at all, at 115 KWD including installation.
Main and steel doors need higher security specifications and a longer-lasting battery. The KX2, KX3 and V1 locks cover this class, between 235 and 275 KWD.
An upgrade without replacing the door if the door is sound and you do not want to replace it, the smart cylinder swaps out only the cylinder at 85 KWD including installation, and it is the cheapest way into a smart lock.
Before you buy: three measurements
Door thickness most locks work between 38 and 55 mm. Thicker doors need an extension kit.
Backset size the distance between the edge of the door and the centre of the handle, usually 60 or 70 mm.
Door opening direction right or left, inward or outward. Most locks are reversible but must be set correctly during installation.

Batteries and emergencies
Smart locks run on AA or AAA batteries and last 8 to 12 months in normal use, with an app alert weeks before they run down. Every lock has an emergency USB-C port or a mechanical backup key, so a flat battery does not mean being locked out.
Installation
Installation is included in the price of the lock inside Kuwait and takes 45 to 90 minutes. The technician removes the old lock, fits the new one, programmes the fingerprints and codes, and hands the system over working on your phone.

Is a smart lock more secure than an ordinary lock?
A smart lock removes the risk of keys being copied or lost, and logs every opening with a name and a time. But mechanical security still depends on the quality of the body and the bolt, which is why we select locks with metal bodies and a double bolt.
