How the installation service works
Most smart home problems are not in the device but in choosing and installing it: a lock that does not suit the door size, a smart switch with no neutral wire behind it, or a solar camera mounted in the shade. So we review the photos with you before you buy, and the technician handles installation, setup and handover in a single visit.
1. Photo check
Send us a photo on WhatsApp of the door, the switch, the thermostat or the camera location. We confirm compatibility and send a quote including installation during working hours, before you pay anything.
2. Booking a time
Once the order is confirmed the technician contacts you to agree a convenient time. Orders confirmed before 3:00 pm are prepared the same day.
3. The installation visit
The technician delivers the device, removes the old one if there is one, fits the new one, connects it to the network and sets it up in your phone app. If the door or the existing wiring needs adjustment, they tell you before starting.
4. Handover and warranty
You receive the device working and tested on your phone, with a short walkthrough. The installation is guaranteed by Homewagon for one year, and any fault arising from the installation is repaired at no charge.
Installation fees and duration
The prices shown in the store are for the device only unless the product name says installation included. When you add the installation service, the following fees apply:

To convert a whole apartment we prefer to fit all the switches in a single visit, and we offer a reduced rate for bulk installation. Gift cards do not include installation.
What we need from you before the visit
Smart locks: three measurements
Door thickness most locks work between 38 و55 mm, and thicker doors need an extension kit. Measure the edge of the door itself, not the frame.
Backset size the distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the handle; 60 or 70 mm on wooden doors, and usually 25, 30 or 35 mm on aluminium profiles.
Door opening direction right or left, inward or outward. Most locks are reversible but must be set correctly during installation.
Send a photo of the door from inside and outside with the thickness in millimetres. These three photos prevent 99% of returns.
Smart switches: the neutral wire
Switch off the power at the distribution board, remove the switch faceplate and photograph the wiring inside the box. If you see only two wires there is probably no neutral, while three or more is a good sign. A smart switch also needs a back box at least 35 mm deep.
Thermostats: voltage and wiring
Photograph your current thermostat from the front and the back after switching off the power. We check the voltage (220 or 24 volts), the number of wires and the system type before ordering.
Cameras: mounting location
A photo of the proposed mounting location is enough. For solar cameras we mount the camera body somewhere shaded where possible and keep the solar panel exposed to the sun.
Work quoted after a site visit
Some work needs a site visit before a price can be set: running new network cable, cutting plasterboard for speakers, multi-camera systems with an NVR recorder, and installing devices bought elsewhere (at a higher fee, and provided they are a type we work with and know how to configure). Full villa and building projects with Control4, Loxone and KNX are handled by a separate projects team that starts with a site visit and a design study.
Installation FAQs
Can you inspect the door before I buy the smart lock?
Yes. Send us a photo of the door from inside and outside along with its thickness on WhatsApp, and we will tell you which lock suits it before you buy. Most returns happen because the lock chosen did not suit the thickness of the door or the cylinder type.
How much does installation cost at Homewagon?
15 KWD for a smart lock; 10 KWD for a light switch, curtain switch or thermostat; 20 KWD for a camera, network point or ceiling speaker. Products with installation included in the name already cover this service in the price.
How long does fitting a smart lock take?
45 to 90 minutes per door, covering removal of the old lock, fitting the new one and programming the fingerprints and codes in the app.
Is the installation guaranteed?
Yes, the installation is guaranteed by Homewagon for one year, and any fault arising from the installation is repaired at no charge. The devices themselves carry a one-year manufacturer warranty.
Do you install devices bought elsewhere?
Yes, for a higher installation fee, and provided the device is a type we work with and know how to configure. Send us a photo of the device first.
Do you carry out complete villa projects?
Yes. For villa and whole-building projects such as Control4, Loxone and KNX systems we have a separate projects team that starts with a site visit and a design study. Mention in your message that it is a full integration project.
